The Two-Semester Power Pathway​

Before students can master test-taking strategy, they must master advanced content. The Fall semester accelerates benchmark skills beyond standard grade-level expectations.

​

• Math Reasoning & Quantitative Logic: Moving beyond simple computation into multi-step word problems, logic, and proportional thinking—the exact math foundations required for the quantitative sections of the SHSAT and ISEE.

​

• Critical Reading & Textual Analysis: Developing close reading, explicit text analysis, inference, and vocabulary depth to tackle complex passages on the Hunter and ISEE exams.

• Structured Writing: Building clear paragraph architecture, analytical essay structure, and precise written expression.

SPRING: NYS Statewide Exam Preparation

Translating Mastery into Standardized Test Success

In the Spring, students apply their Fall core knowledge directly to standardized performance through targeted preparation for the New York State Math & ELA Assessments.

The NYS Assessments serve as a student’s very first exposure to formal, timed, multi-day testing. We use this critical milestone to build lifelong test-taking discipline:

• Format & Structure Mastery: Demystifying exam mechanics, question types, and scoring rubrics so students navigate test day with total confidence.

​

• Pacing, Stamina & Focus: Training students to manage time, maintain focus through lengthy passages, and execute multi-step math under timed conditions.

​

• Strategic Test Psychology: Teaching smart elimination techniques, error analysis, and confident decision-making.
